As the author of three books, I always say writing the book is the EASY part. No matter how long it takes to complete your manuscript, it will not compare to what you will have to do in order to market and promote your work.
If you want your book to reach more than your friends, you are going to have to put some serious energy into getting the word out to the masses. One of the best ways you can reach a lot of people in a short period of time is by utilizing social media.
Here’s one tip I have for you: If you are going to promote your work on someone else’s blog, Facebook or MySpace page make sure you use correct grammar and spelling. This was a comment left on one of my sites by a fellow baby boomer when I announced a pre-launch sale of my book, Don’t Ask and I Won’t Have to Lie:
You should try mines too it has been published for a year now!
As a courtesy to the writer I will not reveal the name but will say if this sentence is indicative of the writing in the book, I definitely would not buy it or recommend it to anyone else.
The grammar in your book is vey important. Here’s one site you may want to check out if you need help: http://www.the-efa.org/
