Growing old gracefully is something we all aspire to but it doesn’t appear to be happening in North Carolina.

According to the NC Center for Heath Statistics, more than a third of the state’s residents between the ages of 55 and 64 are obese and about three-quarters of baby boomers have lost a lot of their retirement money as a result of the weak economy and poor investments.

If there’s any consolation, North Carolina boomers are said to smoke fewer cigarettes than younger generations.  Smoking marijuana, meanwhile, may be a different story—-as a federal report released last year indicates at least 4 million people over 50 use drugs illegally.
